Ace Hobok was born in a shack. His mother died during childbirth, and he was delivered by caesarean section. The family was deeply saddened by this loss, and no one celebrated his birth until he began to babble. It seemed his birth was a tragedy, and for this reason, he developed a deep affinity for tragedy. As a teenager, he joined a choir, and the dark and melancholic lyrics deeply attracted him, leading him to write his own poems.
Yet he always felt that something was missing.
In his childhood, he had no family or friends to care for him. Apart from his choir life, he only encountered his father's disdainful gaze. He tried to perform better to win his father's approval, but his melancholic nature made his performances extremely poor, often only causing his father to dislike him even more.
The threats from his father never stopped. Cry again and I'll throw you in the crematorium. That was what his father said when he fell. No one will cook for you if you don't want to go to choir. That was what his father said when he flinched from the ridicule. I won't support you when you're 16.
God, when you sent someone to write those gloomy poems, did you have a heart as melancholy as mine? His heart moved a step closer to God.
Fortunately, at the age of sixteen, his fate took a turn for the better. He met an aspiring man named Ometty, who took him on a journey to experience various places and cultures. Ometty eventually invited him to help establish a new nation. His calling had arrived.
However, he was not so foolish as to rely solely on one person. The seeds of doubt planted in his heart by his father had not been eradicated even after his father's death. Ometty considered himself a lucky person, thinking that by staying by his side, he might also become lucky.
Indeed good luck.
Soon, people who recognized their talents came to help them build the country. Only then did he learn of Ometty's identity, and he realized how different he really was from her. He silently took a step back, not wanting to pursue the position in front of him, knowing that once he crossed that boundary, he might never return.
